Bethesda, Chevy Chase School is a 1935 safety-film negative, one of the few items in this set that names a specific school rather than a street or landmark. The National Photo Company, a Washington, D.C., firm that operated from the early 1900s into the 1930s, made much of its business in documenting local buildings, events and everyday life in the region. Its negatives were later gifted to the Library of Congress, which is why the record notes some streaking and blemishes from the aging of the original coatings. The title itself comes from data supplied by the company, and the catalog marks it as unverified, so the exact details of the school's setting should be checked before relying on them.
