Rather than a single building, this 1940 ink drawing documents a corner complex at Euclid Avenue and East 9th Street in Cleveland, where the Loew's Stillman theater and the Hotel Statler were planned together. The Statler name traces to Ellsworth Statler, whose hotel chain built its reputation on well-run rooms and dependable service for business travelers. Pairing a hotel with a movie house was common in downtown districts of the era, when both drew large crowds to the same blocks. Drawn by hand in ink on paper, the sheet shows how architects laid out such a combined property before construction and renovation, making it a useful record of the period's design practice.
