A boyhood portrait of Quentin Roosevelt, the youngest son of Theodore Roosevelt, shows him at about twelve or thirteen, posed head and shoulders and facing the camera. The Pach Brothers, a well-known portrait studio in New York, made the print around 1910, when the family was no longer in the White House. Quentin was born in 1897 and grew up largely in the public eye as the president's child. He later became an army aviator and was killed in France in 1918, so images from his youth are often viewed with that outcome in mind.
