A January 1828 hand-colored engraving titled *The Prime Lobster*, the picture takes its humor from a single creature. The record does not name the people or events it targets, so the joke is best read from the image itself. William Heath was a leading London caricaturist of the Regency period, and his satirical prints were widely sold and circulated, often with hand coloring that made the bright reds and details stand out. The print belongs to the British Cartoon Prints Collection at the Library of Congress, where its caption information is noted as unverified. Pictures like this one offer a view of how British satire used familiar objects and animals to comment on public life.
