Issued for a charity day in the Nivernais, a region of central France, this 1915 color lithograph by Maurice Neumont appeals to the public to support the *mutilés de guerre*, the men disabled in the First World War. By 1915 France had suffered enormous numbers of wounded soldiers, and local fundraising days were a common way to help pay for prosthetics, rehabilitation and care that state aid alone could not fully cover. The poster's large format, about 120 by 80 centimeters, would have made it hard to miss on a city wall, where passersby could read its appeal while going about their day.
