Credited to Capt. Otho Cushing of the Army's Air Service, this poster calls on young men to enlist for aviation work, and the airplane propeller at its center signals the trade at a glance. The Air Service grew quickly after the United States entered the First World War in April 1917, and it needed mechanics, riggers and pilots faster than it could train them. Boston printer Forbes issued this color halftone sheet sometime between 1917 and 1920, when recruiting posters were printed in large runs for display in post offices, storefronts and train stations.
