Baltimore's Whig National Convention of 1840 nominated William Henry Harrison for president, and this sheet music cover turned the campaign into a song. Its scene points to Harrison's military record, including the 1811 Battle of Tippecanoe and the 1813 Battle of the Thames, and it shows a log cabin, an emblem the Whigs used to present their candidate as a plain man of the frontier. James Queen drew the lithograph on stone for the publishers Leopold Meignen & Co., showing how campaign songs reached parlor pianos as well as political rallies.
