Shown in a bust portrait turned to the left, Noah Morgan Mason appears here as a man in his early sixties, with the photograph dated March 1943. Mason represented Illinois in the U.S. House of Representatives for many years, serving through the middle of the twentieth century. The picture was taken during the Second World War, when Washington officials and public figures were often photographed for press and official use. Its place on this board reflects Mason's membership in the Freemasons, a fraternal order that counted many civic leaders among its members.
