A calendar that doubles as a golf scene, this 1899 color lithograph was designed by Edward Penfield and published by R.H. Russell. Penfield was one of the most influential American poster artists of the 1890s, known for flat shapes, bold outlines, and limited palettes that suited the era's new interest in advertising art. The catalog record also files the piece under tobacco, which suggests it was produced as a promotional calendar for a tobacco brand, a common format at the time. These details come from an older caption card and have not been fully verified.
