Caught at the end of his swing, Tom Amour appears in this June 1927 print, a frozen moment of follow-through that newspaper sports pages prized. Taken in Washington, D.C., on June 18, 1927, it comes from the National Photo Company, a commercial agency that supplied news pictures to newspapers. It was preserved in an album compiled by Herbert E. French that covers Washington pictures from 1927 to 1930. Golf was growing quickly in popularity during these years, and action shots like this one helped readers follow the game.
