Few resort posters of the period promise as much as this one: sea, forest and three golf courses in a single destination. Le Touquet-Paris-Plage was laid out on France's Opal Coast in the early 1900s, largely by English developers, and it became a fashionable seaside retreat for Parisians. The Compagnie du Chemin de fer du Nord, the railway serving the region, commissioned posters like this one to sell rail travel to the resort. Marton's color design, dated 1936 on the caption card, reflects the interwar taste for bold graphic advertising aimed at holidaymakers.
