The name Connolly is the one specific clue here, but it is a title the National Photo Company wrote on the negative rather than one confirmed by other records, so the subject could be a person, a business or a place. The National Photo Company was a commercial studio that documented American cities and landmarks in the early twentieth century, and its Boston views from the 1920s offer a record of the city in that decade. Because the image survives on glass, it shows streaks and blemishes from the slow decay of its original coating, which is worth noticing as you look.
