Norbert Goeneutte's color plate *Octobre* was made for *L'Art de la mode*, a Paris fashion periodical, and it faces page 72 of the journal's first volume (1880-1881). The record credits Goeneutte with the painting, P. Dujardin with the heliogravure, and L. Eudes as printer. Fashion plates like this one gave readers of the early 1880s a view of how Parisian women dressed as the seasons turned, at a time when color printing was costly and still fairly new. The plate's pairing of a painter's design with a mechanical reproduction process is worth noticing.
