This drawing belongs to the Natchez Trace Parkway's interpretive collection and focuses on the farmland that has shaped the route for generations. The Trace follows an old footpath that Choctaw and Chickasaw travelers used long before Euro-American settlement, and by the early 1800s it carried settlers, traders, and boatmen heading back north from New Orleans. The fields and farmsteads it passes reflect how the land was cleared, planted, and worked across the Mississippi and Tennessee uplands. Interpretive drawings like this one help visitors read those changes in the landscape.
