The drawing shows the Capitol theater at the corner of Vine and East 7th streets in Cincinnati, Ohio, rendered in ink on paper in 1932. Cinema buildings of the early 1930s were often designed to be as striking from the street as the films they showed, so the corner site and the facade would have been central to the design. The sheet is an architectural drawing, not a photograph, so it records the building as planned and presented to builders and owners, preserved in the Library of Congress's architecture, design and engineering holdings. Such drawings are useful for researchers tracing how Depression-era movie palaces were laid out and detailed.
