The Statue of Liberty anchors this poster, which asks viewers the direct question "Have you bought your bond?" and ties a national symbol to a personal financial pledge. It dates from 1917, the year the United States entered World War I and the government began selling Liberty Bonds to help pay for the war. Adolph Treidler, a commercial illustrator, made several posters for these drives, and this lithograph was printed in New York by M. Rusling Wood. Its "subscriptions received here" line shows that it was meant to direct people to where they could buy.
