This view looks down into the third level of Lamont Library, the undergraduate library at Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Built with a gift from the banker and Harvard alumnus Thomas W. Lamont, the library was designed to give students a large, open place to study that was separate from the older research collections. Interior views like this one show how the building arranged its reading spaces across several floors, and they capture the mid-century style of library furnishing and lighting that many students of that era would recognize.
