Turkeys and hunting dogs share the frame in this color silkscreen labeled November, a month that in the 1930s still signaled the autumn hunting season across rural America. Dated 1938, it comes from the Works Progress Administration's Federal Art Project, which used silkscreen during the Depression to make bold, inexpensive images for wide public distribution. Christopher DeNoon's 1987 book *Posters of the WPA*, where the print is listed as no. 316, places it within the agency's graphic output, and its flat areas of color show the strengths of the medium.
