The only name attached to this portrait is Lt. Gurnee Munn, and the record flags it as unverified, taken from caption cards and data supplied by the Bain News Service. The image survives as a glass negative of 5 by 7 inches or smaller, the format Bain's photographers used for quick newspaper work in the early twentieth century. With no date recorded, the picture is best placed within that general period of news photography.
