A pitcher named B. Harris, photographed in Philadelphia in 1924, sets this glass negative apart from the other athlete portraits on this board. The National Photo Company, which worked in Washington and recorded sports figures, public events and city life in the early twentieth century, made the negative, and the name came from data the company noted itself, not from independent verification. Herbert A. French gave the plate to the Library of Congress in 1947. Faint streaks and blemishes on the glass come from the natural breakdown of its original coating, and they are worth noticing as signs of the plate's age.
