A 1941 press photograph shows Mary Pickford kissing David O. Selznick to mark his new role as an owner-producer at United Artists, the company Pickford had cofounded in 1919 with Charles Chaplin, Douglas Fairbanks and D. W. Griffith. The caption wrongly suggests the two were married. Pickford was then married to Buddy Rogers, and Selznick was known for producing *Gone with the Wind* (1939). Friendly, posed images like this were common in Hollywood publicity of the period.
