Horse-drawn wagons and carts, visible in the record's subject headings, carried this log cabin out of College Point, Queens, on February 21, 1906, on its way to Hodgenville, Kentucky, where it was to be re-erected on the Lincoln farm near Lincoln's 1809 birthplace. The cabin had become a popular attraction as a relic of Lincoln's boyhood, and its journey drew public interest as an early effort to bring the rustic structure back to the Kentucky countryside. Its authenticity was debated for years, a question that still surrounds many Lincoln birthplace relics. The photograph was made by J.F. Wieners of College Point.
