Nathaniel Currier published this single-sheet lithograph in New York around 1844, gathering the presidents under one title as a compact visual roll call of the office. The year fell in a heated presidential campaign, when Whig and Democratic partisans bought cheap printed images to display their loyalties, and the print likely served that appetite for national figures. Currier, who later partnered with James Merritt Ives, built his business on affordable lithographs like this one. The print is catalogued in the 1983 Gale Research catalog raisonné of Currier & Ives, where it appears as number 5302.
