Few pictures on this board show a wartime bond campaign's rewards as plainly as this one. It is a lithographed textile banner built around a large letter V, the honor emblem the Treasury Department gave to industrial firms that exceeded their quotas in a Liberty Loan drive. Printed by Sweeney Litho. Co. of New York City, it has grommets in its upper corners so a company could hang it at the plant. The catalog dates it to 1917, but the Victory Liberty Loan that the V celebrates ran in spring 1919, after the armistice, when the government was still raising money to cover war costs.
