Few pictures on this board show a building that combined a movie house with offices above it, but this 1929 elevation of the Fox theater and National Press Club Building at F and 14th Streets NW does exactly that. Drawn in ink on paper, it records the street face of a 1920s Washington project, when downtown theaters were often built as part of larger commercial blocks. The National Press Club, a professional society of working journalists, made the building a gathering place for the city's reporters, so the drawing documents both an entertainment venue and a civic office.
