Here's more info than you probably thought you'd get....<grin>

If it's still there, "Thai Palace", located at 838 Old World Third, (across the street from the blue Federal Bldg downtown) has absolutely outstanding Tom Gai Ka Soup!

I would ALMOST consider going back to Milwaukee just to go to this Mexican restaurant called "Gus's" located at 318 W Juneau Ave just a few blocks down from the Thai place. They serve Pork Enchiladas that are to die for! People always tell me they don't eat much pork or the thought doesn't inspire them. Gus (yes there really is a Gus and he's not hispanic) does serve beef, ground beef, chicken, and cheese/onion enchiladas...but the pork is by far the best.

For Japanese: "Izumi's", "Seigo's" and "Tokyo's", but I don't know how good any of them were.

"Brew City BBQ" was supposed to be pretty good. I didn't get BBQ when I was there.

The "Ground Round" on Silver Springs Drive had the best suicide hot wings. There was also a Southwestern place very close to it, the name is eluding me (go north on North Port Washington Rd toward that Mall that is there) that is well worth going to. They have Margaritas as big as a Barbie swimming pool! But the steaks are outstanding. The seasoning (which believe it or not tastes like they rubbed ham seasoning on it after grilling) is excellent.

"Zam Zam's" a true "hole in the wall restaurant, (2410 N. Farwell Ave) is an Arabic place that is quite interesting and good. They have an appetizer that is a combination of tomato, olive oil, parsley and whatever else, served on warm pita bread that is very very good.

"Chip and Pys" (1340 W Towne Square Rd in Mequon) is very good. They serve a variety of interesting food.

The "Anchorage" (4700 N Port Washington Rd) had the most fantastic Red Snapper Soup I've ever had anywhere. They are pricey on their other items, but worth going just for the soup.

For a little something to do one evening, hit the "Bombay Bicycle Club" on Bluemound Road in Brookfield. They serve a different free buffet every night (call for the times) during happy hour and the drinks are reasonable. They have interactive Nationwide Trivial Pursuit that was a lot of fun as well as decent restaurant food.

Milwaukee etiquette tips especially in the downtown area (and I'm not kidding).
Wear dark sunglasses, never make eye contact, do not smile or say hello on the street. If people approach you for money do not answer or look at them. Walk with an aggressive purpose. You do not want to be perceived as a tourist.

Lived there for years....will never go back.

We ate at a Serbian restaurant about 3 years ago call The Three Brothers that was outstanding. Sorry can give an exact address, but we did have heck of a time finding it.

My '94-'95 yellow pages says "The Three Brothers" is located at 2414 St. Clair.
Directions: I-94 - Exit Becher St. East to So. Bay - Left to Russell - Left to So. St. Clair. (Closed Mondays)

I can see why you had a heck of a time finding it. That does sound complicated! Never had Serbian food before, wish I could have tried it.

Brew City Barbecue on Water St. is very good IMHO. Tokyo Restaurant on Bluemound (in Elm Grove) also recommended. Also consider John Ernst Cafe on Ogden Ave. for German food.

This is ridiculous! Downtown Milwaukee is safe for tourists (and anyone else).

I don't know about the Brookfield area, but make the 20 min. drive to Milwaukee and go to Louises Trattoria on Washington Square, you won't be disappointed. I eat there every visit.
