Kira's Philly Cheese Steaks - while perhaps not 'authentic Philly' fare, are indeed superb. Substituting a swiss cheese and white wine sauce (well, actually the wine is dashed onto the grilled meat just before the cheese is placed on top) for Cheese Whiz may disqualify it from being true Philly, but does make for a damn fine sandwich. But I don't know if I'd go so far as to give it the *best* 'which award. No, in my opinion that would go to Kira's Grilled Pastrami sandwich. Grilling brings out a flavor and richness in pastrami that really makes this particular sandwich stand out. The Philly's are great, but I don't know where else in Seattle you can get anything like this grilled pastrami. And even my second choice would have to go to the charbroiled chicken breast sandwich (or the chicken club, w/ bacon). Much more flavorful, and rich, than most chicken sandwiches. Great borscht (how they get that depth of flavor out of a 100% vegetarian soup, I'll never know), chicken kabobs and cabbage rolls too. Nice friendly folks. Michael used to cook for Brenner Bros deli before Amalia and he took this place over about a year and a half ago. Not fancy - an ex-something-or-another burger joint - in a not fancy neighborhood. But good, flavorful food, skillfully prepared, in a nice friendly atmosphere. -Wes Wes Neuenschwander Seattle, WA, US ******************************************************* * Notice: Email address modified to foil SPAMMERS!! * * Delete "cut-it-out" from my email address * * to reply.
