Ballard recommendations?

Well, it's about time I espoused about my favorite place in Ballard (I
live and work in Ballard) -- Honey I'm Home. They're a catering place
but they're open M-F 11am-7pm for take out and lunch things. They
have a few standard things (Big Sloppy, a shredded pork sandwich,
focaccia sandwiches, etc..) and then different salads and main dishes
every day. I've loved everything I've had there (except the stuff
with asaparagus, but I don't like asparagus). They use fresh
ingredients and don't hold back in seasoning. ie, they cook like I
do, or would, if I had more time. And, finally, the people there are
really great. Genuninely nice people, creating good food, and making
 their customers happy.

Stop in sometime for a snack or to get something to take home for dinner.

There's Lombardi's at the corner of 24th and Market for good, if
garlicky, Italian. Thai Cafe just south of 20th and Market is quite
reasonable. For fish and chips, there's Totem House across from the
 Locks.

I'll have to voice a dissenting opinion, here. After seeing the sign when
crossing the bridge for so long, I stopped here with a friend. The place
looked like a typical dive bar. The chili was - un-remarkable. I wasn't
appalled or anything, we were hungry and finished our bowls. I just
wouldn't ever bother to make a trip there again.
Now, I do know different people like different kinds of chili - I guess
this wasn't for me. That was more than six months ago, and I would
describe it for you, if I could remember any distinguishing
 characteristics about it.

Hattie's Hat on Ballard. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Interesting bar.

Around the corner from there is Salmon Bay Cafe. Good breakfast.

Back on Ballard is Bad Albert's. Breakfast on Sat. & Sun. Lunch - Dinner.

Not far away is Katina's Kitchen - (Near Chinook's) good breakfast &
 lunch.
It's in the 4200 block of Gilman, past the Fishermens' Terminal on the
 way to Magnolia.

Pandasia ( south of the bridge - on Dravus).

Back to Ballard - Lock Spot - Decent breakfast even on Christmas day.

Le Gourmand - interesting mix of Northwest & French.

I agree with the vote for Lombardi's. Across from there is Andre's Pizza.
Quality pizza made by a baker who knows what he's doing.

 Need a bakery? Larsen's on 24th.

Next door to Larsen's is a good family owned butcher - Cascioppo Bros.

Ray's Boathouse - UPSTAIRS - great ambiance. ( The walk upstairs saves
 $$$$)

Oh yes, last but not least - Mike's - on the North end of the bridge -
Chili & Beer - sample their stuff at the Bite this Friday, Sat. or Sun.

PS on the northern edge - keep traveling up 15th 'til it curves into
 Holman.
 DICK'S - burgers & fries - a time warp/institution.

I'll weigh in with Josh on this one. Pasta Bella does a pretty
 decent job, actually.

Also not properly in Ballard, but just a hop, skip, 'n' jump north,
is Burrito Loco, a favorite Mexican place of many here.
