Went to Jaleo yesterday, on 7th St. in the Lansburgh (catty corner from the Insect Club). We (three of us) filled up on tapas and found it a filling and reasonably economical method of dining out. The wait was pretty bad (about an hour) but that time was well spent people-watching. I wanted to try the paella, but a friend of mine told me that it wasn't very good. Anyone willing to agree/disagree? Anyone found really good paella in the area? Thanks, in advance. Rich Hsu

Jaleo's paella

There's a Spanish restaurant in Rockville called Andalucia right next door to where Cucumber Books used to be. I go there about once a month but I couldn't say what the address is. It's in the book. Anyway, I think their paella is pretty good. I'm not a wine drinker but a friend says that their sangria is excellent. Price is moderate (pealla is around $14 per person). A second location is opening on Elm Street in Bethesda in the very near future. I attended the opening reception a week ago but the final touches to the interior still needed to be done. Jan

It's a lunch place, don't think it's open for dinner.

Whoops! That's on D St between 6th and 7th. I forget the name, but has a sign which proclaims it to have "Spanish-Italian" food. *=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=*=* Elliott Coates [email removed]
