One of my favorite inexpensive Italian restaurants is the Pines of Rome in Bethesda. My wife and I have been eating there for about six or seven years now and the food quality, preparation and service has always been excellent. We enjoy their oso boco, spaghetti and meatballs, and their fresh fish (flounder is the best) is outstanding. They have specials every night and the price is right. Several new Italian restaurants have opened in nearby locations. Has anyone tried the Zia Mia in Bethesda? I think that's the right name. Since my favorite food is Italian, I would enjoy hearing from people who have had good experiences with restaurnats in the Bethesda area. Thanks. Oh, try Almalfi's in Rockville. It's in an industrial park near Parklawn and Twinbrook Parkway and it looks like nothing from the outside by it is really good and very inexpensive for what you get. You get free bread made with little piece of olives in it, and the salads are good - but the pasta- yummy!!! I used to live 4 blocks from there and I went a lot. Take Wisconsin Ave/Rockville Pike north from Bethesda to Randolf Road/Montrose Road - take a right onto Randolf. About 3-4 quick lights later, take a left onto Parklawn. Take a left at the second light and follow this road around about 2-3 blocks. Look for Almalfi's on your right.
