Ben,

An EXCELLENT Restaurant is called Makato. It's on McArthur blvd in DC. It is very authentic (too much for some). It is also VERY small. It can seat less than 30. You really should reserve. The dinner is essentially a fixed menu, consisting of around ten very small courses for $25. It has a very nice cosy atmosphere, and the food changes all the time. I have been there 4 times, and like it very much. If you need more info, let me know.

Regards:-)
