Try the Shockoe Bottom area of town. Mostly converted tobacco warehouses. The best place, IMHO, is The Frog and the Redneck, which seems to have some kind of affiliation with Jean Luis Palladin of the Watergate in Washington. Great food -- not quite sure how to label it -- perhaps California cuisine is the closest. Good use of fresh vegetables. Delicate touch with fried and sauteed items. Casual atmosphere, but reservations are strongly recommended.
