An exception, although not an ethnic eatery you specifically mention having an interest in, is La Tolteca in the Ramada Inn on Route 60 near the factory outlets. (Williamsburg is a fine shopping opportunity; see especially Berkeley Square Commons a mile or so north of the Ramada also on 60.) La Tolteca is a Mexican/Central American place with very good food at very reasonable prices. The chiles rellenos are the best I've had. Servings are especially large. Do not get lured into Captain George's seafood buffet, which is right next door. --Janet Wintermute

In Arlington Hts, there is a great mexican restaurant downtown called La Chicanita (sp?). It's at Dunton and Northwest highway. Great food! Good portions and authentic. Must try the steak tacos or any of the combination plates. You can't go wrong here. For Pizza, I recommend Gino's East which is at the intersections of Golf Road and Algonquin Road in Rolling Meadows. Chicago deep dish pizza at it's best here. Crowded on the weekends. For Chinese, I recommend a place called Absolutly Chinese, on Kirchoff Road also in Rolling Meadows. Good portions at good prices. Hard to find, tough to beat. All 3 of these places are within 10 minutes of each other. I recently relocated from the Rolling Meadows area to Dayton and I'll tell you, not a weekend goes by where our family wishes we could go to any one of these 3 places. Good Luck! Steve Miller
In Williamsburg, don't miss the Trellis --- outstanding restaurant --- right in Merchant's Square at the end of Duke of Gloucester St. It's not part of Colonial Wmsbg, and the food is imaginative and well prepared.
