With that in mind, I always liked: For breakfast: Henry's Diner (downtown) and Sneakers (across the river in Winooski). Also, the Bagel Factory (downtown, or on Rt. 7 in S. Burlington). For other times: Waterworks (also in Winooski, in the Champlain Mill), Bove's (cheap pasta, downtown), and a barbecue place on Rt. 7 in S. Burlington (the name escapes me at the moment). Carbur's (downtown) was okay too. Guy

Bove's is an excellent (and cheap) spaghetti house. I'm not sure if they're chic enough to be called "pasta". It's just spaghetti, ravioli, etc. Amazing garlic sauce (rocket fuel). Henry's Diner is an excellent greasy spoon kind of diner, if you're looking for eggs, sausage and hash browns. Sneakers, in Winooski is a little more upscale, with some more imaginative breakfast choices. Both are great. Not sure if exists anymore, but there used to be an excellent fancy restaurant on Pearl St. by the name of Deja Vu. The restaurant itself was beautiful, and the food was excellent. Five Spice and Paulines Kitchen were excellent last time I ate there. Lee
