The Mikado. I haven't eaten there in 15 years, so I can't give a current recommendation. While you are in town go to Fuggles, 345 west 200 south. Great food, microbrewed beer, limited wine list.

For Italian, Fresco at 1500 south 1500 east. Very cozy, great food. If you are skiing Snowbird or Alta, try Pomodoro on 2300 east 7200 south, solid Italian in a strip mall, great wine list.

There is a new place in town I haven't tried, but it sound great, but expensive, its called Meditorianio or something. It's next door to Squatters, the brewpub that owns Fuggles. Dinner only, prix-fixe menu I believe, very upscale.

For inventive southwest cuisine, you have to try Barking Frog, either in Park City or downtown, 39 west Post Office Place (350 so).

For the best seafood anywhere, go to Market Street Broiler, near the U of U campus, about 200 south 1300 east.

good eating!

Hi all! Thought I'd chime in here with my own two cents . . . The new place you are talking about is called the Metropolitan. I haven't had a chance to try it out yet myself, but I hear it's very expensive and serves trendy little servings -- the kind of place that you go home and eat a bowl of cereal after dining.

Another good seafood restaurant is Marketstreet Grill, (same owners as the Brioler), which is my personal favorite. My mother had a bad experience at the Broiler (involving a cockroach and bad service) which causes me to shy away from that location.

I do, however, strongly recommend staying away from an Italian restaurant in Trolley Square called Ferrantelli's. I dined there with my family after some last-minute shopping on Christmas eve and have NEVER had worse food, coffee and service. Amazing the place is still in business.

Hope this helps! Happy dining!
