Go lunch times for these, expect to pay about £3 per portion (2-4 portions per person). restaurant excellent and informal. Unusual variety (rarely changes tho unfortunately) , if you're brave enough to ask, you might be able to get less western things like jelly fish too - you should be brave and ask. At least one of us goes there weekly. Chilli stuffed with prawn, char sui and wind dried oyster parcels (A+++++), chickens feet, mixed stuffed rice roll, soup dumpling, char sui bau etc etc. oooh glutinous rice with wind dried sausage A++++++. Sometimes they also give freebies. 2) The Pacific in George st (china town). 1/2 restaurant is chinese the other is thai. Bit posh (expensive), all white and modern contemporary styling but food superb. Had a wonderful fresh crab red thai curry wow. 3) Cherry Tree restaurant, Hale Barns, cheshire. Simple 'old fashioned' chinese menu but great tastes. They buy good quality prawns - we notice that especially. -- Clairebear http://www.corkyscave.com 2.0.0 Beardies 1.1.0 Garter 0.0.2 Corn 1.0.0 Pueblan Milk 1.0.0 Cali King 1.2.0 Red tail 1.1.0 Hogg Island 1.0.0 Royal 1.1.0 Borneo Blood 1.1.0 Carpet 1.1.0 Western Hognose 1.0.0 Burmese Schmoo wrote: > i have 3 > the best is the dragon & pearl in haverfordwest w.wales (restaurant/take > away) > > 2nd best > dragon express - euxton, chorley, lancs > > 3rd - top wok - clayton le woods - preston (restaurant) > > From [email removed] Sat Mar 30 05:54:15 EST 2002 Article: 150 of uk.food+drink.chinese

The Pacific is the best Chinese restaurant I have ever been in, it's surroundings are chic, as you say white, contempory even a little minimalist. The service was top notch, helpful and efficient, answering all our questions with expertises and recommending a flow of courses. If I remember it won the NW best restraint award a few years back, but don't quote me on that. If any one is wondering it is dearer than your 'average' Chinese, at about £30 - £40/head for a 3 course meal, wine is about £10 -£30 a bottle, unless you go for the Château Neuf at £120!!! This sounds pricey for a Chinese, but, no more than any other top notch restaurant in Manchester. The Yang sing would be my second Favourite and a little restaurant called the Kwi-Ping in my local town third, although only above average on the food quality, it has so many endearing memories for me......... .....................Jason > 3) Cherry Tree restaurant, Hale Barns, Cheshire.
