Well, a group of us just visited Bastille's on Spon Street in Coventry. Spon street is a street of medieval buildings, and the inside of the restaurant was all medieval timbers. Very nice.

However, the service was absolutely *TERRIBLE*.

The man serving was scruffy, and mumbled at us when he took drink orders. Then it took 45 minutes to get him to take our food orders. This person was
*lousy*. He could barely be bothered. The place was *freezing*, but the heating came on shortly after we sat down and it warmed up, oh, some time after we left.

When the food came it was variable: we had seen a member of staff leave and return with a bag of french sticks and other groceries, and sure enough, some people had "bruscheta" which was basically french stick slices with cheese and mushrooms on. No spices, nothing. And "poached mushrooms" were mushrooms in water. Bland.

Even worse, they forget 3 orders, and after a 45 minute wait for food (Which turned up cold) they THEN told us that some stuff had run out. To make matters worse, there were two dishes we didn't order (Or want.).

The staff now showed their sheer contempt for the customer by asking if wanted replacements and the missing dishes, then buggering off and returning with replacements and telling us that we didn't ask for the missing ones!

Finally, the missing dishes turned up. One was crap -- a few crisps in cheese with a spoonful of mine, and the others were acceptable.

In fact, some of the food was nice, but utterly terrible staff ruined the night for all nine of us.

After sitting in this place for 2 hours the Kebab house over the road looked attractive.

I have never been anywhere this bad before in the UK and Europe. It was unbelievalble how bad and ignorant the staff were.
