I finally ate at Threadgills (north) today for the first time (OK, I'm not a very good native Austinite). I was not impressed either. My chicken fried steak was severely burned. The turnip greens were beyond chopped, basically a pulpy green mass. The waitress repeatedly addressed me as "ma'am" despite the fact that I have huge, old-fat-Elvis-style sideburns.

The fried okra was fine, at least, and the draft Pearl was nice and cold.
