I went to Thai Spice's lunch buffet yesterday around 12:30pm for the first time. (Location: Mopac North and Parmer Lane--in the HEB shopping center on the SE corner of the intersection.) It was recommended by an acquaintenance whose palate I'm now beginning to question. He thought it was good and thus the recommendation. I thought it was dreadful. Most of the dishes were cold or luke warm with the soups and a chicken dish being the noticeable exceptions. There were 3 different kinds of egg rolls all of which were vegetarian. There were only two meat dishes on the whole buffet (one was chicken and the other beef). I finally had to beg to get my water glass refilled, and the dirty dishes were never removed from our table. Even though it was 102 degrees outside, the A/C was so cold that our cold food was really cold before we could finally choke it down. I have never understood why the plates cannot be warmed for a buffet. Generally, my food gets cold before I can eat it due to the heat transfer to the cold plate. All this for a mere $18 for 2 adults. Although not the best Thai food in Austin, Bangkok Cuisine has a far better lunch buffet.

Thai Spice Lunch Buffet
Someone wrote: : I say not worth the money. ... ... : I think Classic Thai on North Lamar has the best lunch buffet. Fewer : items and less swanky than Bangkok Cuisine, sure, but great soups and : larb and always sweet service. Sadly, I must concur. I was impressed with Thai Spice on my first visit, but subsequent visits have left me less and less satisfied. These days, Classic Thai is my preferred Thai lunch spot, too. Good buffet selection, the food is always hot, and I love the fried chicken wings. Craig
