In response to the recent queries/remarks on Java Noodles restaurant, I am posting the address of their home page. The page has not been updated in a while and the current menu is even more extensive and varied than the one on the web page. Even then, the page will give you a fair idea.
Go to http://austin.citysearch.com
From the Eat_and_Sleep menu, choose "restaurants".
"Java Noodles" is one of 3 restaurants listed under Indo./Malaysian.
Location 2400 East Oltorf, Suites 14-15. Phone 443-JAVA

The food is delicious, PLENTIFUL and very reasonably priced. No other place in Austin (and to the best of my knowledge Dallas or Houston) can match them in taste and flavor when it comes to Indonesian cuisine.
A few points to note :
1. No alcohol served. You may want to check with them if BYOB works.
2. Open only for dinner on Saturdays and lunch buffet on Sunday.
3. Folks working in South Austin (AMD and vicinity) will find this an
excellent lunch bargain. Combos at $4.95.
4. I strongly recommend dinner at this place. The dinner menu is much
more varied than the lunch (which nevertheless has sufficinet options)
and the chef may even have the time to come and chat with you !
Try any of their preparations with coconut milk. Don't be intimated by the spices. Let the tears roll ! A good strategy for the faint of heart is to order one of their exotic desserts (Es Teller) right at the beginning and keep it as a ready antidote during the meal - works great on blistered tongues ;-) . Of course not all dishes are that spicy.
Personal favorites :
Satay Ayam (Indonesian grilled/bbq chicken on skewers) Sambal Goreng Udang (Spicy Prawns in Coconut Milk Sauce) Shrimp Rolls (appetizer) Es Teller (Dessert : tropical fruit medley with a topping
of condensed milk and shaved ice)
Cheers
