My one dining experience at Cafe Mozart was so unpleasent that I warn people away from the place every chance I get. A dining companion: "Remind me NEVER to eat here again." Details at:

(Also, I had heard they closed (good riddance).)

There's a great German restaurant in Wallburg which is just north of Georgetown off 35. It's about 3 miles east on the Wallburg exit in a great old general store. Check it out if you really like German food.

I'm still not sure why the big hype on the Walburg restaurant. I've eaten there several times in the last several years, and it seems that the portions have gotten smaller, while the price has increased. I was disappointed especially, the last time I went. (last fall). Ordered the weiner schnitzel, as usual, and left the table hungry. I'll go again, but only for the music and dancing in the biergarten. Guenther's is/was far better, (but there was a for sale sign on it last I drove by), and the drive to the Fort Hood area has been worth it for German food. Can't remember the names of the places. There are two that I can find in that area, but I'd have to make a couple of phone calls to get the names and addresses.

went there last night, the second time within a month, in the hope
of finding a third to play Skat... no luck!
in January we had gone for the Sunday lunch buffet...

the Sunday buffet at Guenther's was better -- and not good enough
to go back for; the Wurstsalad, (pork) schnitzel with Spaetzle
and red cabbage was okey, nothing to write home about though.

viewed as an oddity, a "ride into the Texas countryside" experience
(don't take IH-35 for that though, take the back roads east of there)
during a sunny winter or spring day (or a beautifully clear night, as
was last) which includes a little live music (the owner does yodel
fairly well) and viewing a few collectibles odds+ends on display,
I'd have to say it's worth doing once (the same as a visit to the
Hofbrau is), more often only if what you find there has particular
appeal to you. I might stop there again on a bike-ride to visit some
friends in the country out there, but for food and entertainment I'll
stick with Austin's wide variety of Asian mom+pop restaurants and
some of the smaller music venues.
