What do you guys think about this place. I have enjoyed the food the three times I have been there. I thought it was better than Chuy's, although an argument could be made that the two can't be compared against each other.

Also, has anyone ever been to La Moda?

Good place. Huevos Curra is a favorite of ours. I wouldn't compare them to Chuy's since, imho, Chuy's pretty much sucks...

Hmmm.. actually, we've only been to Curra's for breakfast when we can't make it to Cisco's by closing (hey, so what we're lethargic on the weekends?!:)). Haven't had a rita for breakfast thank god <vbg>. Huevos Curra are two eggs over easy with carne guisada, which they do pretty well. The rest of their menu looked pretty interesting/unusual.

'course it's a matter of taste <gasp> ;), but Chuy's ritas have always been too citric acid-ish for me. In fact good margarita mix may be an oxymoron. I like 'em made one at a time, on the rocks in a short glass with real lime juice, decent tequila and liqueur. Guero's does them pretty well, and with a fair choice of blue agave tequilas.

Some friends of ours took us to dinner there Friday night before going to the theater. I must say I'd never been to that place before and was, for the most part, pleasantly surprised. The margaritas were good, but I'm still waiting for a restaurant that doesn't add some kind of sweet to them. Does anybody know of one? Just tequila, lime juice and cointreau! Anyhow, we had chips and salsa as quick appetizers since we didn't have a lot of time. The salsas were pretty good and had quite a bite. Most people in the table ordered one sort of enchilada or another and all got good reviews. Someone else got a plate of ceviche and it looked quite tasty. I had the "puntas de filete" in chipotle sauce. The sauce was good and the beans were ok. The meat was not, by any means, beef tenderloin, which is what "filete" means. I saw a bunch of familiar sounding dishes in the menu (mixiotes!, I wonder if they're any good), but given the disappointments I've had in the past ordering something familiar to me but getting the tex version of it, I passed. I did notice a couple of plates featuring plantains (a favorite of mine, fried and served with white rice seasoned with garlic and onion), but I observed a waiter serving a plate with what looked like raw bananas sliced. I hope it was regular bananas, because plantain's are pretty much inedible raw. Anyhow, I might go back to that restaurant and perhaps I'll be brave enough to order something familiar. If I do, I'll let you guys know.
