User-Agent: slrn/0.9.5.4 (UNIX) Xref: pale-rider.INS.CWRU.Edu austin.food:3748 We had dinner tonight at the T & S Seafood Restaurant, and enjoyed it very much. Our first dish was called Seafood Pan Fried Noodles, which consisted of various vegetables, shrimp and squid on top of crunchy noodles. The vegetables were fresh and not overcooked. The second dish was an uninspired choice: shrimp and chicken in garlic sauce. T & S's version of it was about as good as I've ever had it. Along with fried dumplings and hot tea, the bill came to $20. Service was effective, prompt, and casual. This is not a place to expect high-class service as in Tocai, but we were never ignored. All the other customers seemed to be Chinese. There are Chinese items on the menu. T & S does have Peking Duck on the menu (as Beijing Duck; are we obliged to correct our pronunciation for dishes locally too?), and apparently try to have it on hand. Most places I've lived in required advance notice to prepare the Peking Duck. The lady running the place did indicate that it's best to call ahead and check because they apparently run out of it. Since this is one of my absolute favorite (easily available) Chinese dishes, I intend to try this pretty soon. I've been informed, to my amazement, that several of my friends have never tried this dish. I have also gone to this place twice for dim sum. They have dim sum three days a week, Fridays through Sunday. Both our impressions are that the dim sum is better than what's served at Tien Hong, and it's not as crowded. We also requested some stuff that was not in the carts, and they made those for us. Never go to a Chinese restaurant with someone who isn't interested in eating a lot, I've learned. There were a number of dishes I wanted to try, but my partner simply was not in the mood. Sigh! It's best to go with a bunch of people so we can order a whole slew of dishes and pig out (especially if they are all snooty enough to insist on using chopsticks since I can usually out-eat them using a fork). rajat

We both find it at least as good or better than Tien Hong. It's certainly much less crowded. I definately recommend it. It's a couple blocks south of Chuy's on N. Lamar, where the old North Rainbow Chinese restaurant used to be, which was Mong Kok ... Cheers, Doug
