Inexpensive and fast. Not much to look at, but the food is worth it. Anyone else have this little place on Burnet Road on their "guilty pleasures" list?

Austin Wok & Roll is a great value

We live nearby and go often for the veggie fried rice (enough for 2 meals for about $4!) Try the Hong Kong Chicken (baked curry with pineapple) and the Peking? Style (I don't remember off the top of my head) that's kind of sweet and sour with lots of onions. Both are on the "other" menu on the wall. What I can't recommend there is the soup. Doesn't really do much for me. But the egg rolls are pretty good. lisa [email removed]

The steamed chicken with white (or fried) rice is neither sweet nor breaded (it's one of my favorite dishes). The neat thing about the Wok & Roll is that they carry a lot of dishes that you won't see in other Chinese restaurants. They basically serve Hong Kong fast food (which, fortunately, is not McDonald's quality). rajat

I have lately been feasting on their steamed chicken and roast duck plate. Their fried rice dishes are very tasty, especially the one with the salted fish and Chinese sausage. It tastes so much more "foreign" than most Chinese food served around here. James P.S. I also like the owners of the place. Nice folks. Try Kim Phung around Lamar and 183 (Next to Tejano Ranch) if you like Vietnamese Noodle. Very good; very cheap. James C. wrote: > Rajat: > > They make a mean plate of fried noodles, too. Especially their curried chicken. And for eggrolls with vermicelli (bun bi cha gio) then Fortune Pho 75 on N. Lamar. Happy eating.
