Moriah (near Clark Tower). I like the steaks here better than Ruth's Chris. Similar price. Try the fried dill pickles for something different. I've heard of another good steak place -- Jim's Place East, but I haven't been there. Jacques -- Near the airport on Democrat blvd. Cajun -- great red-beans & rice. Not expensive. Fred Gang's -- Seafood & Prime Rib. Very good salad bar. On Airways blvd. near the airport. Moderate price. Cafe Max -- On Popular just east of I-240. Good seafood, some pastas, etc. Moderate price. Brennans -- Across Popular from Cafe Max. Cajun (related to Owen Brennans in New Orleans.) Crowded happy hour gathering spot on Wed evening. Bosco's(sp?) -- Micro brewery N of poplar several miles east of I-240. Specialty pastas, salads, sandwiches. Good price. Grisante's -- Italian. Used to be very good, but I haven't been in a couple of years. The original was located at Airways & Lamar. I was told last week that it is closed. There are a couple of related places with the Grisante name. I haven't found a mexican restaurant I would go back to. Nothing really bad, just not what I'm used to. There is a very good place, several blocks north of Union near Overton square. I've only been once, but it was an outstanding meal. They have a very limited menu which changes monthly. You select from one or two ethnic motifs, then they just start bringing food. Problem is, I can't remember the name. Starts with 'M'. (It was middle eastern the night I was there.) Plan on spending the evening. Expensive. Memphis also has several very good, southern 'home style' restaurants. I like Dale's on State Line Rd. Inexpensive. Memphis also has the usual chains -- Macaroni Grill, Outback Steak House, Houstons, TGI Fridays, Houlihans, Landry's, Benigans, etc. I get to Memphis on business two or three times a month, so I spend a lot of time eating out.

There are two locations, one of which is just a couple blocks from the Peabody Hotel. Yo Olga - For incredible southern fried chicken and the best peach cobler I've ever cobbled, try the Four Way restaurant in Memphis. It's not in the greatest part of town, but the hospitality more than makes up for it. There's also a great place for country ham - big ol' parking lot out by Graceland - can't remember the name, maybe someone else does.
