A very excellent restaurant that is reasonable in price is the Mt. Vernon at 3509 Broad Street at the foot of Lookout Mountain. They are open M-F 11AM-10PM, Sat. 5PM-10PM, closed Sun. Their phone # is (615) 266-6591. My husband and I stop at this restaurant anytime we are within driving distance. They advertise nominal seafood, pasta, steak, chicken dishes in their brochure ($7.95-$13.95). However, the daily specials are always more interesting and usually less expensive. They are famous for their delicious vegetable souffle side dishes (sweet potato, broccoli, and squash). They will share the recipes for these, if you ask. Save room for a slice of their Amaretto Creme Pie ($2.75). They are noted for their salad dressings also. The orange dressing served with the mandarin orange salad is beautiful and delicious. I wish they would share the recipe for this dressing too as I am almost finished with the last of two bottles I brought back to Los Angeles. I hope you will like this place as much as we do if you decide to try it.
