Any (or most) NY System Weiner place in Rhode Island. But some are better than others - the one on Warwick Ave. near Hillsgrove is my new favorite (I think it's called Hoxie Wiener's). Now, you may ask, exactly what IS a NY System Weiner. Well, it has nothing to do with NY for one. It's a very short, very skinny weiner (with skin). It's put on a bun with mustard, chopped onions, celery salt, and special sauce that's made to go with weiners. You have to eat at least two for your stomach to realize they're in there. They cost about 80 cents/each. I don't live in RI anymore, but if I don't get a weiner fix when I go home, I'm NOT happy. Right, fellow Rhody's??? risa ********************************************** PLEASE PLEASE E-MAIL ME AS WELL AS POST - our server only gets a small portion of all posted messages. THANK YOU!!! The menu is huge, the dogs are all-beef, and the toppings are good, plentiful and fresh. Best hot dogs I've had outside of Chicago.
The Best Place is 'Johnny and Hanges' on River Street in Paterson, NJ. But, be careful. When I first started going there as a kid 45+ years ago the 'hood was seedy. Now, it's worse. But, it's worth the trip. And it is close to a highway where you can escape to if the scene goes bad. Enjoy.

Also in the same general area and not quite as seedy The Hot Grill Clifton NJ (Lakeview Ave?) - make sure to get your fires with gravy Jimmy Jims Garfield NJ (Midland Ave) - the pastrami is good also.
