Hi Mike
Can't say about the Steak Italian but the Chicken Italian is very good. Easiest way to get there from Center City is to go 95 South to Walt Whitman Bridge/Packer Ave exit. Stay in RIGHT LANE going off 95. (Left lane will take you to New Jersey and God only knows what will happen to you there). At bottom of exit ramp TURN LEFT. Go to next light and Tony Luke's will be on right hand side.

If you're in Center City during the day and don't want to drive to South Philly, you could try Tony Luke Jr's (on 18th St. between Chestnut and Sansom). The sandwich is terrific and the location more convenient than the original place. The only drawback is that is primarily a lunch place, and is only open until 5:30 on weekdays and 4:00 on Saturdays.

Steak Italian is very good, but the flavor of the broccoli rabe is more evident in the Chicken Italian. The pizza steak at Tony Luke Jr's is the best steak sandwich I've found in Center City so far.

Tony Luke's fame rests, imo, on its roast pork sandwiches, served with either spinach (better) or broccoli rabe & provolone should one be so inclined. Don't confuse the original Tony Luke's with the family restaurant across the street where you can get a full Italian dinner. The one you want is the "stand" with outdoor seating where in all probability there'll be a line at any hour of day or night. You won't be disappointed.
