I'm assuming you mean the Marriot on Market St., near the Convention Center. That's quick but not necessarily safe-at-night walking distance from Susanna Foo on Walnut St. near 15th (great fusion Chinese), Le-Bec-Fin (super- deluxe haute cuisine) across the street, and Brasserie Perrier (classy modern) one block west. It'll take you a cab ride to the Fountain in the Four Seasons hotel (18th & Parkway), my own favorite expensive restaurant. For something closer and less pricey, you're two blocks from Chinatown, but I don't know the places too well these days, so you may want to ask at the hotel. At lunchtime, check out Reading Terminal Market across the street, where there's the Down Home Diner and counters selling almost anything you might want. -Sol Siegel, Philadelphia, PA --------------------------------------------------------- "Ah, not in knowledge is happiness, but in the acquisition of knowledge." - Edgar Allan Poe (Remove "junkfree" from the end of my e-mail address to reply.)

It's a small area with dining tables and a bar, where folks may wait for dinner upstairs at the main dining room. However, you can get a smaller meal there, cooked by the same kitchen. The experience was great, and the prices were much more reasonable. And, you weren't treated like crap simply because you were trying to watch your budget. All in all, the restaurant lives up to its reputation. Jim M.
