I'm trying to find a good reasonably priced Thai restaurant in the Philadelphia area. I went to the Thai Singha in University City the other night and found that it wasn't worth the cost of the meal. Any suggestions?

Try Bangkok Cuisine on Haverford Avenue just off City Line. Service is excellent, presentation beautiful, food delicious. We've been going there almost since it opened & have never had a bad meal.

Try Lemon Grass which is on Lancaster Ave. between 36th and 38th St. It's about 5 minutes from Thai Singha.

Jow's Garden is on 47th Street between Spruce & Pine in University City. It's Thai/Italian, so you can get things like gnocchi in pesto along with pad thai.

Jow's Garden is located on the first floor of an apartment building.

I've found that if you go to the Thai Singha House (or South of Siam on the opposite corner of 40th and Chestnut) for their Early Bird Specials (usually before 6 p.m.), you can get a very good three-course Thai meal for about $10 a person.

True, the 'hood's not so great. But the flaming game hen in brandy-chili sauce is worth getting mugged !!!

Do you want to stay in Center City??

If you are willing to travel to the 'burbs, there is a place called Thai Pepper in Ardmore, right on Lancaster Ave.

Actually, as I reach over an grab the phone book:

      Thai Pepper
      64 E. Lancaster Ave.
      Ardmore, PA
      (610) 642-5951

Hope that helps!!
